I used to have a goal – an aspiration, really – that I wouldn't spend more than twice as much time talking about cameras than I did actually taking photos. That became critically impractical when I started working in a camera store, of course, but I never really achieved the ideal even before that.
Winter is difficult. The light is brief and unattractive even when it isn't cold outside, and this has been a very cold winter. I'm lacking inspiration, and every time I'm outside my only goal has been to go back to where it's warm. I pick up my cameras from time to time, and may take a few photos, but rarely go past the idle loosening-up period and have yet to take anything decent.
But I have no problem spending time online reading reviews and shopping for cameras. If only I could lose inspiration for that.
