So, yeah, not subtle. But aside from the obvious symbolism / metaphor for the ongoing situation, I've always liked these barriers from a photographic standpoint. So finding these abandoned in the brush was about as good an opportunity as I was going to get.

I had gone to the Islands for the first time this year; they had been closed until everyone could figure out that wide open places aren't hazardous and that it's possible to put fewer people on a boat. Unfortunately everyone else was also taking the opportunity to visit, and that Friday evening was busier than any Saturday afternoon that I've ever seen. It's not that people were clustering – it's that they were dispersed. Everywhere. This little spot was the only place I could find where there weren't other people, so mediocre photos were about all I was up for.
