The webpage for the Better Living Centre prominently declares that, "situated in the heart of Exhibition Place, the Better Living Centre is adjacent to surface parking lots".

This is true.

It's also one of the few buildings on the grounds of the Canadian National Exhibition that still has the name I've known since I was a kid. So many of the rest have been renamed – many multiple times – after large corporations, who buy the Naming Rights in exchange for a small fraction of what their tax bill should be.

The curved walls and white-glazed brick makes for an attractive architectural subject, and my F6 with the 50/1.8G, loaded Ilford HP5 pushed to 800, is just about the worst possible choice for it. Still, you dance with the one that brung ya. I was just out for a walk, not looking for any particular destination or subject.

I like these enough to think about going back. Maybe with the big tripod, Sigma 24-35, and 85 tilt-shift on the F6. Maybe with Acros or Pan F. But since I treat my SLR like a medium-format camera, perhaps it's worth bringing the big Fuji GX860 out of the house again. I was using it again for another recent project, and remembered how much I like it.

(Unfortunately I also remembered how much it weighs.)
