While tradition will always have a place, the giant wall-of-text displays that I adore are being replaced by video screens, where the messages are more fragmentary and ephemeral. This presents some challenges, but also the opportunity to watch the event that's happening live as if it's a TV show. And there's a lot more light, and more lit-up things to play with. All told I'm happy enough with the transition to modern technologies.
And I don't want to give the impression that I don't photograph cars at the auto show, although this year was probably my most marketing-heavy photo session so far. For the 2020 show I'm going to need to shift my emphasis, and embrace the monochrome again.
